Do you have a friend or family member that chosen to live their life as a vegan? Then you're probably familiar with how hard it can be to bake them a birthday cake or other pastries. Luckily for you though it's not that hard to actually bake a vegan and delicious birthday cake. Being a vegan means that the person in question will not eat something that has been associated with animals at all, so let's take a look at what kind of substitutes can be used instead of the regular cake ingredients. And chances are that you already have them in your kitchen. Let's also take a look at an easy to bake, vegan friendly recipe.

It's quite easy to replace the animal based products that are used regularly in the non-vegan friendly recipes, because there are plenty of products to get around that. Let's take a look at how you for instance can replace the eggs and milk for your cake of choice.

You can replace eggs with vegan friendly products such as agar powder, potato starch, vinegar, flax seeds or even mashed potatoes. There are even certain fruit types you can use such as bananas, pumpkin, squash or even apple sauce. The properties that egg brings to the cake is that it can bond the batter together and make it smooth, and just like eggs these aforementioned products can do that as well.

When it comes to milk, that's also very easily replaceable. You can simply replace it with water or perhaps some soymilk if you want to make sure you get the best taste out of it. The reason why milk is so easy to replace is due to the fact that milk kind does nothing for the batter, more than making the taste richer, but that is just as achievable with soymilk.

Using these vegan friendly products will make the batter very smooth, and it will bake fast, it should only take around 20 to 30 minutes total.

For the past couple of years, cupcakes have been on a trending rise because they're just that simpler to bake than a regular cake also is much easier to handle all around. They have in fact been trending so much that some people choose to use them at weddings and other celebrations such as birthdays. What's not to like about the cupcake really? So let's go ahead and take a look at a great recipe for a vegan cupcake that can be used as a birthday cake.

Ingredients:

500 grams baking flour

1 cup sugar mixed chopped nuts

1 teaspoon vegetable oil

1 cup water or soy milk

1/4 cup orange juice

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 teaspoons vinegar

Flavorings:

You may use unsweetened chocolate, pumpkin puree, banana or grated carrots.

Procedure:

Sift the flour and add in the nuts.

At this point if you chose chocolate as the flavoring you may add it in.

Make batter with the liquid and beat it until it can smooth out.

Pre-heat oven to 350°F

Pour batter into paper-lined medium muffin cups, filling each 3/4 full.

Bake 20 to 30 minutes.

You can even go ahead and decorate the cupcakes as you wish, make them look tasty and more enticing. Trying out flavors such as carrot, banana and chocolate can make for a great new experience for your taste buds! Using the ingredients above you should have no problems in baking delicious cupcakes. Just make sure that your body gets that precious protein that it needs though! And you know, even though you yourself perhaps aren’t a vegan, doesn't mean that you can taste it.
